Which MICHELIN-Starred restaurants in Bangkok are open on Monday?

Bangkok holds more MICHELIN-starred restaurants than almost any other city in Asia. What it does not have, on Monday evenings, is many of them open. The restaurants below hold MICHELIN Stars and run full service on Mondays. Always confirm directly with each restaurant before travelling.
Nahm · One MICHELIN Star · Thai Contemporary · COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, Sathorn
Chef Pim Techamuanvivit’s kitchen operates seven evenings a week, making Nahm one of the very few starred rooms in Bangkok with no Monday closure. The Heritage tasting menu represents the full experience: a sequence of dishes rooted in the depth and layering of authentic Thai cooking.
IGNIV · One MICHELIN Star · European Contemporary · The St. Regis Bangkok, Ratchadamri
Founded by Swiss chef Andreas Caminada, IGNIV runs lunch and dinner seven days a week. The concept is a sharing menu: multiple dishes arrive simultaneously and are passed around the table. Head chef Arne Riehn works from a seasonally rotating tasting menu built on a Swiss foundation and adapted to Bangkok.
R-Haan · Two MICHELIN Stars · Thai Contemporary · 131 Soi Sukhumvit 53, Vadhana
R-Haan holds two MICHELIN Stars and opens seven evenings a week, making it one of very few multi-starred restaurants in Bangkok available on a Monday. Chef Chumpol Jangprai’s kitchen takes Thailand’s culinary heritage as its subject: royal recipes, regional produce, and the layered flavour that defines serious Thai cooking. Dinner is set-menu only.
Mia · One MICHELIN Star · Contemporary · 30 Attha Kawi 1, Sukhumvit Soi 26
Of the starred restaurants open on Monday, Mia is the only independent house not attached to a hotel. Chef-Patrons Top Russell and Michelle Goh run every service from a converted two-storey residence on Sukhumvit Soi 26. Three fully composed tasting menus run simultaneously at every service: standard, vegetarian, and vegan. Monday is the same kitchen, the same team, and the same menus as any other night of the week.
Hours are subject to change. Always verify directly with the restaurant before booking a Monday table.
Why do most of Bangkok’s starred restaurants close on Monday?
The Monday closure is an industry convention, not a Bangkok peculiarity. Fine dining restaurants worldwide observe a weekly closure of one or two days, and Monday is the most common choice. The reasoning is straightforward: Saturday and Sunday represent the highest-volume days of the service week, with lunch and dinner back to back. By Sunday evening, a kitchen brigade has typically worked five or six consecutive days. Monday is the reset.
For Bangkok’s starred restaurants, which run at full capacity from Thursday through Sunday, the Monday closure makes operational sense. The front-of-house team rotates. The kitchen prepares stock and mise en place for the week ahead. The chef tests new dishes without the pressure of a full room.
The problem belongs to visitors who do not leave on Sunday.
A traveller arriving in Bangkok on a Thursday for five nights has every starred restaurant available from Thursday through Sunday. But on Monday, the same map of recommended tables goes largely dark. Sorn, Sühring, Nusara, Gaggan, Potong, 80/20, Haoma, Saawaan, Chim by Siam Wisdom: all closed. For someone partway through a Bangkok food itinerary, Monday can feel like a gap in an otherwise exceptional week. The restaurants listed above are the exceptions: kitchens that have chosen, for their own reasons, to open on a night when most of their peers do not.
What is Mia, and what can I expect on a Monday evening?
Mia is a one-MICHELIN-Star restaurant in a converted two-storey residence on Sukhumvit Soi 26, the same street as Sorn, Bangkok’s only Three-Star. The restaurant is independent: no hotel, no group, smart casual dress.
Chef-Patrons Pongcharn “Top” Russell and Michelle Goh are a married couple who run the kitchen and the dining room together. The food is rooted in Asian culinary heritage and expressed through European technique. It is not a compromise between two traditions; it is a cuisine with its own logic, shaped by the backgrounds of both chefs and by the produce available in Thailand.
Three tasting menus run simultaneously at every service: standard, vegetarian, and vegan. Each is independently composed. A guest who does not eat meat does not receive a shorter or adapted version of the standard menu; they receive a fully different menu of the same length and ambition. This holds on a Monday as on a Saturday.
Monday dinner at Mia runs from 17:00 to 21:00. Reservations are required.
